There are actually two fairly large parking lots (quite a change from many of Oahu’s other trailheads) at the Koko Head District Park.

The first parking lot is smaller, next to the tennis courts and further from the Koko Crater trail head.

Public restrooms are conveniently located next to this parking lot.

If you continue further, you’ll reach the second parking lot, much bigger.

Koko Head Trailhead Parking Lot

Morning on weekdays is the best time to find a parking spot here.

Late afternoon and evening on weekdays are busy with baseball games and other sports – Koko Head District Park is a popular local spot after all.

Koko Head Parking Lot Hours

Koko Crater Trail parking at the Koko Head District Park lot is available from 04:00 am to 11:00 pm, but earlier staff typically opened the gate at 06:30 am.

With the installation of an automated, time-opened vehicular gate, early hikers looking to catch the sunrise from the Koko Crater Head summit will be able to park from 04:00 am.

Koko Marina Center

A shopping mall about 10 minutes walk from the trailhead, the Koko Marina Center with ample parking may be an option, especially if you want to indulge in a quick bite or drink at the mall.

Hawaii Kai Park and Ride

A bit further away, but not too far for the dedicated hiker, the Hawaii Kai Park and Ride, located at 300 Keahole Street, Honolulu, HI 96825, usually has ample parking available, even on weekends.
